Here is Your Key(stone) to Retail Furniture Pricing

I'm writing this post because I have had customers asking about prices they have seen online or in big-box stores. Let's talk about pricing and buying online versus buying from a local store versus buying from a national chain. Do you know what a "keystone" price is? When a retailer buys from a manufacturer, that is the wholesale price. When the retailer sells the item to the public, the retailer must get reimbursed for what it paid the wholesaler and what it cost to get the item to its showroom. The retailer has a formula that it uses to determine the price for the item. The formula for a furniture store is COST X 2.5% = RETAIL PRICE.

If you have been to our store and looked at our price tags, You will see a REGULAR SALES PRICE also. That price is COST X 2% = EVERYDAY SALES PRICE. If that is too much like math, then think of it as "we sell stuff for double what it costs us." Sales tax is added to that. If the customer buys a warrantee or requires financing, all of that is added. If the customer requires delivery or even requires that an item be assembled, all of that is added. Our business then has to pay taxes, electricity, marketing, insurance, payroll, etc. in order to stay open and continue to bring goods and services to the Miss-Lou.

Now, I said all of that to say this: WE PRICE MATCH. If you buy an item from us and find that identical item at a brick-and-mortar store and the item is being sold for less, we will match the price. We do not haggle prices because we are giving you our best price already. We do not match random finds online or big-box stores because the number you see does not fairly compare to our number. Large stores buy truckloads or container loads and pay less per item than we do.
