Drop in, mama!

For the last three years I have had the good fortune to attend the WithIt Conference. WithIt is an organization for women in the home and furnishings industry which is an industry that for many years was almost all men even though almost all purchases of furniture and decor are either made by or influenced by women. I am always amazed at the gathering of smart and industrious industry women. They are all always so friendly and make me want to be a better person. Good people are out there learning how to be better people, learning how to be better communicators, learning that each of us has plenty to give in this world, and learning that perfect is not the goal.

WithIt is focused on mentoring and providing leadership training to the home furnishings industry. Money is raised to provide scholarships for students who want to attend the conference to learn more about the industry and themselves. Mostly, though, the conference is seeing friends and making friends from all over the country and from big executives to folks just starting out. I’m so happy to be a part of such a great group.

Are you afraid of failure? Imperfection? Embarrassment? Are you afraid of change? You just have to jump in, mama. Sitting still is not an option, and trying and failing is still learning and moving forward.
